A CLOSER LOOK
What we can work on.
Click a topic to see a practical learning focus. We select the right depth for the learner, rather than treating every grade the same.
01Accounting equation and double entry+
Classify each account, identify the two effects and connect the transaction to assets, equity and liabilities before recording it.
02Journals, ledgers and reconciliations+
Follow source documents into the correct journal and ledger. Use reconciliation to explain timing differences and errors.
03Adjustments and financial statements+
Explain what changes at period end, record the adjustment and trace its effect into the appropriate statement.
04Analysis, controls and ethical decisions+
Calculate an indicator, compare it with relevant evidence and make a reasoned recommendation. Separate an internal control weakness from its remedy.
When extra support could help
Entries are learned by pattern, but unfamiliar transactions or adjustments cause confusion.
Watch for: Treating every cash payment as an expense, even when the business acquires an asset.
A useful sign of progress: The learner can explain both sides of a transaction and trace the effect through the records.
THE 3-QUESTION CHECK
